Quick thinking doctors restore an elderly Thai monk's sight after he mistook a tube of superglue for eye drops.
In a scene not out of place in a comedy sketch Phra Kru Prapatworakhun, 81, was blinded for nearly a week after applying the superglue.
Thankfully the story resulted in a happy ending after doctors used acetone solvent to remove the glue from one eye leaving it unharmed.
An operation on the second eye, which is still tightly sealed, scheduled for Thursday is expected to be plain sailing.
The venerable monk should be able to resume his duties as abbot of a temple in Muang Angthong district, north of Bangkok, in record time.
The incident occured after he sought to remedy a severe itch in his eyes last week.
Attempts to use thinners to get rid of the glue had earlier proved unsuccessful.
