A young Indian boy was one of the lucky ones to escape the devastation of the tsunami thanks to his pet dog.
The dog had the good sense to hound the boy out of a hut near the shore and instead seek safety on higher ground.
His boyÕs father had alerted his wife, Sangeeta, to the approaching danger.
She grabbed her two youngest children, thinking the eldest, Dinakaran, would have the best chance of outrunning the waves.
But as she ran for higher ground, the boy headed for the small hut close to shore.
Thankfully, the dog took off after him and nudged him out of the hutand towards the safety of higher ground and his family.
